Settling for What We Deserve

We’ve often settled for less than we deserve,
because someone else meant more to us
than our own desires, dreams or what we deserve.
We told ourselves we were doing the right thing,
that we were being fair to the people who mattered,
and maybe we were.
But deep inside, there’s always been a quiet voice,
a persistent drive that keeps us awake at night.
It reminds us of everything we could have reached
for, everything the universe still holds for us.
It steals our sleep.
We’ve compromised. We’ve let things go,
for reasons that felt valid at the time.
But we still feel stuck in the choices we made,
in the paths we didn’t take.
That inner voice doesn’t leave.
It keeps coming back,
nudging us, whispering that we deserve more.
But we try not to let it consume us.
We remind ourselves that we need our people,
our constants, our anchors.
In a world overflowing with opportunities
and dazzling lights, we know we’ll always need
someone to come home to.
Someone to hold us when we’re tired.
But we also know we can’t stay at “HOME” forever.
We were born to explore.
Sometimes, we need to set out on a voyage,
even if everything isn’t perfectly aligned.
If we can take our people with us,
that’s the dream.
But, we can’t keep delaying the journey,
waiting for the perfect moment.
Because, when we ignore that inner fire,
it starts to burn us from the inside.
It begins to suffocate us.
So now, we choose to listen.
We practice patience.
We believe in delayed gratification.
But we keep our eyes open.
And when the time feels right,
we’ll grab the opportunity.
Hello world...
Let us design our lives!
