On Sunday, May 24, 2025, our team embarked on a delightful journey through Pickering, Ontario, immersing ourselves in the local culture and artistry. Pickering, located in the eastern part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), is known for its scenic charm and vibrant community spirit.
The day began in the heart of Pickering Village at Bean & Basket, a charming café and boutique that seamlessly blends the warmth of a coffee shop with the allure of a local artisan market.

Bean & Basket is renowned for its commitment to showcasing locally made goods and sustainable products. As our team sipped on perfectly brewed coffee, we explored the boutique’s offerings, which included handmade soaps, unique jewelry, and eco-friendly home décor.

The ambiance was inviting, and the staff’s passion for supporting independent makers was evident in every corner of the shop.

Energized and inspired, our team made our way to Esplanade Park for Artfest, Pickering’s annual celebration of creativity and community. The festival, scheduled for May 24th and 25th, 2025, was particularly special this year, marking the city’s 25th anniversary with the theme “25 Years of Creative Roots.”
The park was alive with vibrant displays from local artists, artisans, and performers. We wandered through the artisan vendor market, discovering one-of-a-kind handmade goods and engaging with passionate creators. Live performances added a rhythmic backdrop to the festivities, while food trucks offered a variety of delicious options.

The sense of community was palpable, with families participating in interactive activities and workshops designed for all ages. The Pickering Garden Club Sale was a highlight, offering beautiful plants and gardening essentials. Artfest truly encapsulated the spirit of Pickering, bringing together diverse elements of art, culture, and community in a harmonious celebration.
From the cozy corners of the cafe to the lively atmosphere of Artfest, our day in Pickering was a testament to the city’s thriving creative scene and its deep commitment to community engagement.
